Our team at Milberg Orthodontics has a unique patient-centered approach to orthodontic treatment. Each member of our treatment team has successfully completed the Certified Orthodontic Assistant Exam, a voluntary exam which tests for orthodontic knowledge and proficiency.
With a passion for developing strong, personal relationships with each of her patients, while developing beautiful smiles for them, Dr. Diane J. Milberg is a highly regarded orthodontist.
A San Diego native, Dr. Laura knew by the age of 8 she wanted to become an orthodontist! After spending many afternoons in her mother, Dr. Milberg’s office, she grew to love the profession of making people smile…

Dr. Milberg is passionate about her profession. While working to provide her patients with beautiful smiles and excellent bites, she also develops positive and personal relationships with them. She treats each patient as an individual and is often called their “second mom”.
Beginning with the first visit to her practice, Dr. Milberg strives to establish open lines of communication to understand her patient’s goals. She strives to educate patients and enlist their cooperation to achieve an excellent orthodontic result. She also works to keep each person excited about developing their new smile.
Dr. Milberg loves working with patients of all ages. Whether she’s watching children grow and mature into confident young adults, or helping an adult gain the smile they’ve dreamed about for years, she finds personal reward in helping others. She also greatly enjoys the friendships that develop with her patients, which often extend beyond the office. In fact, she frequently attends patients’ recitals and games!
Dr. Milberg has been a speaker at the American Association of Orthodontists annual meetings for many years. In her lectures, she discusses the importance of spending time to know her patients, treating them with respect, and guiding them to orthodontic success. She also explains the importance of active listening, empathy, and compassion at each orthodontic visit.
Each year Dr. Milberg pursues continuing education offerings, through meetings, seminars, and online courses. She is a long-standing and active member of the Edward Angle Society, which promotes education standards for the training of orthodontists. She’s also a frequent speaker at these seminars.
By seeking out continuing education, Dr. Milberg stays current on the latest training and practice standards. This ensures her patients receive the best orthodontic treatment possible, and have an enjoyable treatment journey.
A Los Angeles native, San Diego is now Dr. Milberg’s home. She is married, with two adult children: a son and a daughter. Her daughter will be joining the practice in the spring of 2016. Dr. Milberg’s family also includes Buddy Jack, a Beagle, and Marly, a Pug mix. When she’s not caring for her patients, you’ll often find Dr. Milberg enjoying time in her garden or creating great meals in her kitchen. An avid pianist, she also spends many hours at her piano and loves learning about music theory.
Like many of you, Dr. Laura experienced the tremendous esthetic and functional impact that orthodontics can have on one’s life. As a fearful young patient herself, Dr. Laura attributes her own treatment success to the positive, warm, encouraging, and comfortable environment she was treated in. Her own experiences have greatly shaped her treatment philosophy of providing her patient’s with excellent health, smiles, and ‘bites’ in a personalized empathetic environment. Like her mother, she aims to provide care to the ‘whole’ patient, and cherishes the relationships and friendships that orthodontics brings to her life.

I love creating a bond and friendship with our patients and their parents. We truly become a family. I feel very proud to be part of our patients’ lives and seeing the joy in their face as we work together to improve their smile. I’ve been with our practice since 2001, starting as Treatment Coordinator and Orthodontic Assistant. Now I’m the Office Manager and am responsible for patient billing, insurance matters, and management for the offices.
My high school sweetheart and I have been married since 1990. Our son, Zach, works for the City of San Diego. Our daughter is a senior in high school and is captain of her cheer squad. We love camping together as a family, especially sitting around the fire, laughing and talking.
I enjoy working in orthodontics because we create beautiful, confident smiles. I also enjoy interacting with patients and their families while guiding them through their orthodontic journey. Being an orthodontic assistant is a fun and rewarding profession. When I’m not at work, I like to visit San Diego’s hiking trails and beautiful beaches.
